The Kongresshotel Potsdam is a conference hotel with over 500 beds, 35 conference rooms and 95 employees. The hotel has many special features due to the location and its unique architecture. Silvia Timm, the Head of Human Ressources, personally introduces new employees to her colleagues and goes on a two-hour lasting tour around the building.
It was our task to create a new “personal tour” with the „tabtour-app“. From now on new employees are supposed to get familiar with special features of the conference hotel independently and they have to consolidate their knowledge by answering detailed questions.
Our provided solution
Together with the Marketing and HR department, various important spots were gathered and implemented into the backend of the software. After a short introduction new employees got a tablet PC and explored the conference hotel in teams of two on their own. The order of the tasks, the introductory texts and of course the personal contact with other employees served as an orientation. Results and answers were showed and evaluated in the backend.
This modern kind of training was very successful. New colleagues got to know each other quite fast due to the required teamwork. It was a time-saving supplement to the training of new employees for the HR manager and therefore an additional value. Open questions also achieved learning effects on the side of the human resources management.
The process of the firstday@work was quite easy to implement and all existing employees were able to handle and update the content on their own. The firstday@work has become a central part of the training.
